The Microinsurance Innovation Facility

Backed by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and housed in the ILO’s Social Finance Programme, the Microinsurance Innovation Facility was established in 2008 to extend insurance to low-income people in the developing world.

Ultimately, the Facility seeks to enable the microinsurance sector so that millions of working poor are able to access a wider range of insurance products that provide better value for money, and to make informed choices on how to manage risks.
