After the successful Luzon-Visayas Regional Roundtable Conference on November 23, RBAP-MABS called forth its Mindanao rural banks for their own convention on November 26 at the Waterfront Insular Hotel in Davao City. Carrying over the first conference’s theme, “Managing Bank’s Risk, Creating Value for Clients”, the event gathered 27 bankers from 14 MABS participating rural banks in the region.
Assistant Secretary Romeo Montenegro of the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) welcomed the delegates to the event, which featured speakers from the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), Regional Trial Court, MicroEnsure, Country Bankers, Rural Bank of Talisayan MBA, and Globe Telecom’s G-Xchange Inc. (GXI), among others. The participants took the opportunity to raise issues and concerns on the various topics presented in the conference, which included the latest BSP regulations on microfinance and rural banking, microinsurance, small claims cases, marketing, delinquency management and the latest mobile banking technologies.
