Courses and Training offered as Part of the full MABS Technical Assistance Package:

1. Senior Management Exposure Workshop. A two-day training course for rural bank owners and top-level officers, the course consists of classroom sessions and an exposure visit with banks staff and clients at one of MABS participating banks. Trainees get firsthand experience with a bank that is successfully implementing a MABS microfinance program.

2. MFU Staff Training. A five-day training course for microfinance supervisors and account officers. The course tackles basic concepts of financial intermediation, microfinance best practices, product design, market research, business planning, CIBI, cashflow analysis, loan management, monitoring, MIS, and action planning.
3. Cashflow-based lending. A one-day seminar covering the cashflow lending approach in microfinance. Ideal for managers, supervisors, and account officers. Participants go through several case studies and perform cashflow analysis.
4. “Zero Tolerance” toward delinquency. A one-day seminar in which participants get to understand the causes, effects, and impact of loan delinquency on their bank. The course also provides a guide on how bank management can handle their delinquency problems.
5. Internal controls and fraud prevention for microfinance operations. A one-day course intended for senior management, branch managers, internal audit officers, and microfinance supervisors. Participants analyze various cases of fraud to learn how to prevent it.
6. Financial management for Microfinance Banks. A two-day course intended for owners, senior managers, accountants, and compliance officers of rural banks. The course provides an overview of financial management issues pertaining to microfinance for rural banks.
7. On-the-job training in the bank. During the first six-month period, MABS consultants will travel to the bank on a regular basis to train the staff in the bank’s new microfinance unit.
